Meet our Post-Acute Unit Medical Director

screen-shot-2016-10-07-at-4-05-37-pmWe are pleased to welcome Dr. Stephen Wright as our post-acute Medical Director for our post-hospital stay residents. He will be available to round on all his patients 7 days a week to ensure timely follow up and convenience during a temporary stay.

Dr. Stephen Wright is a lifelong resident of Madison County. He was born in Anderson and spent his formative years on a farm in Alexandria, graduating salutatorian in 1969. He graduated from Purdue University in pre-med/biology in 1973 and from IU Med School in 1978. After a 3 year residency in Family Practice at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, he came back to Madison County to set up practice in 1981. He has been in Lapel since 1982 and now practices with two wonderful partners; Dr. Katherine Callahan, DNP and Cindy Foster, MA in there current location since 2014. He is Madison County’s Health Officer, provides Medical Director work for Kindred Hospice, is a Medical Director for all the Hancock County Urgent Cares, has spent 2 years in the Community Hospital Advanced Wound Care Center, and is now our new Medical Director of our post-acute unit at Providence.

He has a son, Brandon, who works for Rowland Graphics in Noblesville as a graphic designer. They continue the Wright family tradition of following all forms of auto racing – from Midgets to NASCAR to Indy Car to Formula One. In his free time (!) he plays piano, does photography, reads military history, and shoots a variety of firearms – mainly for target practice. He has qualified Master in high power rifle and is Sharpshooter in Bullseye pistol and loves to shoot clay targets. If it goes click or Bang! he likes it.
